Get Up and Go!

Reading about the man by the Bethesda pool who is healed by Jesus reminds me of one of my favorite songs, “You are Mine,” by David Haas.  Here is a link to the song:

In the last verse of the song, the lyrics are:

I am the word that leads all to freedom.

I am the peace the world cannot give.

I will call your name, embracing all your pain.

Stand up, now walk, and live!

Jesus says to the man, “Rise, take up your mat, and walk.”  In other words, “I see more in you than anybody else.”  When we are mired down by life, disability, or the weight of the world, then we have a higher power that can liberate us through word and peace!  Do we trust enough in that power and voice?  What might our lives be like if instead of seeing our lives as “disabled,” we see our lives as limitless and full of potential?!  We are not created to be bound by wheelchairs and minds that think small!  We are created for liberation and discipleship!  As I heard recently in a video, we are limited by our minds, not our bodies.  Stand up, now walk, and live!!!  Who knows where those feet will take you!
